Village Writers’ Critique Group meets from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. on the 3rd Thursday of each month at the Chamber of Commerce office near the West Gate.
Material for the critique is usually 2,000 words or less, emailed in a .pdf format to all members of the group by the end of the week before the meeting. Members print each manuscript they receive and read each piece carefully
.
Critiques are intended to be constructive and helpful, always focused on the work, not the writer. Copy editing/formatting aid is written on the material and brought to the meeting but not discussed in any detail.
Oral critique at the meeting concerns character development, plot, reader interest, etc.
